If you’ve ever watched American Idol, no doubt you’ve often heard Simon tell someone that there’s certain performers that they should stay away from, although he usually doesn’t word it so nicely 
. I completely agree with that. For me, Michael Jackson was one of those performers that cannot be replicated, and very hard for anyone to perform a Micheal Jackson song in a way that sounds in any way enjoyable.
One of my friends introduced me to this video, by Aloe Blacc & the Grand Scheme. Their performance of Billie Jean really surprised me! They completely break it down, with a minimal use of instruments and a great interpretation of the original.

This version uses a single male vocal, Aloe Blacc, and the Grand Scheme consisting of Drums, Guitar, Bass, Sax and Trumpet. If you close your eyes, you can see yourself going way back in time, in some smoke-filled, underground jazz club where you have to know someone to get in.
What an excellent way to pay tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Thanks guys for such a great rendition!!!
